1945 Detroit Tigers Hank Greenberg
Photo of Hank Greenberg taking a big swing with Boston Red Sox catcher Billy Holm. The umpire behind the plate is Bill McGowan. Note the patch on Holm's sleeve. This patch was worn only from 1942 to 1945. Greenburg missed th entire seasons of 1942 to 1944, playing his first game back July 1, 1945. Note the score is Det 5 Visitors (Red Sox) 0 in the 2nd inning. Only happened once with Greenberg playing, 8/11/45.

1945 Chicago Cubs vs. Detroit Tigers Curse of Billy Goat game
1945 World Series game 4 was played at Wrigley Field, which is the Curse of Billy Goat game. In the photo, from the 4th inning, Jimmy Outlaw is running to first after hitting the pitch from Paul Derringer. Rudy York is forced out at second by Don Johnson who throws to Phil Cavarretta on first. Roy Cullenbine goes to third and Hank Greenberg is seen crossing the plate in the photo.

In the second, Howie Schultz is forced out by second baseman Red Schoendienst. Schoendienst then fires to first. Dodgers win the game 4-2.

1946 World Series Game 1, Ted Williams
Ted Williams first World Series game. Note the shift of the infield and outfield. Tag states: "Not employing the famed Cleveland Shift, the entire Cardinal defense with the exception of the shortstop and left fielder veered sharply toward the right when Ted Williams, Red Sox Slugger came to bat for the first time in the World Series opener..." Howie Pollet is the pitcher. Williams would ground out to second.

1947 Babe Ruth at first ever Old Timers' Day
Babe Ruth standing near Home Plate at Yankee Stadium for the first ever Old Timers' Day. The player in the Yankees uniform to the left is catcher Wally Schang, who played for the Yankees from 1921 thru 1925. Other players in the game included: Frank Baker, Earle Combs, Tris Speaker, Jimmie Foxx, Chief Bender, Cy Young, Ed Walsh and Ty Cobb.
Size: 8x10. It is stamped on the back: "Photo by Wm. C. Greene" and has "Sports News Collection" Authentic sticker on the bottom right corner.

Opening Day, Mickey Mantle debut. Double Play: Ball is hit to SS Phil Rizzuto (top left) who throws to Jerry Coleman, on second, for the force out of Walt Dropo. The ball is then thrown to Johnny Mize, on first, as Lou Boudreau crosses first a bit too late. This ends the game and Yankees win 5-0. Also, pictured are 1B Coach: Eral Combs and Umpires: 2B - Jim Honochick & 1B - Bill McKinley.

Satchel Paige comes in to start the 8th inning down 1 to 0. He threw 3 innings without giving up a hit. The St. Louis Browns would end up winning the gave in the 10th, when Ellis Kinder hits a double with two men on. Satchel Paige holds up 2 fingers signifying his second victory with the '52 Browns.

The only time Berra is at the plate at Ebbets, with runners on first and second is 4th inning of Game 1 (Groundout: 1B-SS/Forceout at 2B; Rizzuto to 3B).

On deck is Joe Collins and HP Umpire is Bill Stewart. Eddie Lopat would get the win with the Yankees by a score of 4 to 2, which is how the series would go Yankes win in 6.

1930's Babe Ruth interviewed by Graham McNamee
This is a 1954 reprint of well known, most likely late 1920's or early 1930's, photo with the following printed on reverse: "Babe Ruth is interviewed by Graham McNamee between innings at a Yankee ball game." According to baseball.org, "Graham McNamee’s voice became its first recognizable star". Original photo was taken at Yankee Stadium pre-1936 (in 1936 NY was added to front of uniform).

1956 Miami Marlins
Satchel Paige, age 49, is on the sidelines seated in an oversized chair. In 1956, the Miami Marlins were of the International League (AAA) which were affiliated with Philadelphia Phillies. In the book "Satchel Paige's Years in Miami" it states, "The Marlins parked the pitcher in a large rocking chair in the bullpen, bringing him out to throw more often than even Veeck dreamed possible." Does not seem to be a rocking chair, as seen in this photo.
